Our Printing History
"A page of history is worth a pound of logic"
Where it all began
Belmont Press was founded in 1952 by Herbert Thomas. Right from the start we were printing items for a diverse portfolio of clients. These included grocery bags, lottery tickets, trade catalogues as well as a local neighbourhood news magazine. Herbert was a business person and trend-setter, continuously seeking out new opportunities. He had four children, who have all worked for the family firm, Trevor Thomas became Managing Director in 1975. Trevor retired in 2021 and his nephew Owen Thomas became the new Managing Director, and Nicola Thomas has taken on the role of Company Secretary.
New innovations
In 1960, we proudly took delivery of our first brand new Heidelberg Cylinder Printing Press and we’ve never looked back. Our love and fascination of new machinery and innovations has made us early adopters of new technology. This has helped us to operate efficiently and cost-effectively, while delivering the best possible results for our client base. Our company ethos to complete as many processes as we can in-house ensures colour consistency, brand integrity and adherence to client delivery schedules. As well as using the latest printing and finishing technology, we embrace new online solutions, giving you flexibility, control and 24/7 access to your printed publications.
Professionalism
Some of our staff have been at Belmont Press for many years, and often bring other family members on board. This helps create a friendly atmosphere and a family run business ethos. We operate as a team and take pride in our work. Our production facility is in operation 24 hours a day, employing over 100 skilled staff. We look after clients nationwide, producing over 300 million items a year. Our team of account managers will provide support and advice throughout every step of your project.
