Exeter College

Exeter College is Devon's only Ofsted Outstanding further education college. As an organisation, nationally they are in the Sunday Times Top 100 Not for Profit Employer list. In 2021 Belmont Press were chosen as the college's lithographic print partner for the production of their School Leavers Course Guide - a stitched booklet that details everything students need to know about college life, the options they have to offer and how to apply.

The guide had a bold, striking design. The header on the front page 'Your future is bright' had to stand out and it was essential we achieved the desired effect. To ensure expectations were met we put forward three lithographic wet proofs to the Exeter team, experimenting with florescent ink and foil to gain feedback on the best solution.

After a couple of specification tweaks, an appropriate foil was chosen and we got to work.

It was important that the jet black cover didn't dull down the vibrant foil, so the ink was knocked back from underneath the foil avoiding any show through. This meant special attention was required to the 'fit', ensuring variation of the foil position was kept to an absolute minimum.
